At the top of an unsuspecting office building on Karagiorgi Servias Street in Athens, Greece, there’s a rooftop canteen that you’ll want to put on your list. With no name, no printed menu, and only five tables, this tiny wonder has been enjoyed by local office employees and cityfolk for the past thirty years. This canteen’s call to fame is its biftekia (meat patties), which are lauded as some of the best in Athens and served with a generous side of hand-cut fries. Other dishes include salata horiatiki and omelet with fries and feta. Top it off with a raki or beer and you can enjoy a filling meal for only around ten euros, complete with a stunning view of the city that stretches all the way to the sea. Sometimes, it pays to go off the beaten path.
